Mandrem (a toddy tappers' and palm distillers' hamlet with two little beaches: Lemos and Asvem) is a secluded hamlet lined with canoes in a beautifully shaded setting, just south of Arambol beach.
The beach is one of the least developed along this stretch of coast, for the moment it is managing to tread that fine line between having enough facilities for comfort and enough isolation to guarantee idyllic peace.
The southern end has the added boon of a river that yields a refreshing lush environment. Further north there is a lagoon fringed by palm trees and some simple rooms, virtually all with sea view.
The beach has mercifully yet to draw hawkers, trinket sellers and tourists operators.
